5 Tips to Survive Your Big Kitchen Remodeling Project

Survive Your Kitchen Remodeling

It can be tough to survive your kitchen remodeling project, but use these tips and imagine how great your new kitchen will look when it’s over!

A kitchen remodeling project is one of the best ways to refresh and modernize your home. It is also, for better or worse, very disruptive to your daily routines. While we take great care to have your job completed in a timely fashion, no homeowner can escape the temporary inconvenience that comes with the remodeling project. By planning ahead of time, however, you’ll survive, minimizing the inconvenience and making the project go as smoothly as possible. Here are 5 tips to follow.

1. Designating a Temporary Kitchen Area

Eating out a lot during the remodeling project can be challenging and drain your budget. Designate an area of your home away from the kitchen that can serve as an area for you and your family to pour a bowl of cereal or make some coffee in the morning.

2. Simplify Your Kitchen Gear Needs

It may go without saying, but don’t try that latest high prep recipe you’ve been meaning to make during your kitchen remodeling! Pare down your kitchen tools to the bare necessities. Save the ones you use most and store them in your temporary kitchen area.

3. Planning Meals with Small Appliances

Small kitchen appliances are crucial in your quest to survive your remodeling project. Microwaves, toaster ovens, and hot plates will help you prepare some basic meals so you don’t have to rely on take-out all the time. If possible, move your refrigerator to your temporary kitchen area or use a mini-fridge to store essential items.

4. Stock Up on Disposables

A kitchen remodel may put your dishwasher and sink out of commission for a short period of time. While it’s possible to use a bathtub or bathroom sink to wash dishes, an easier option is to simply buy and use disposable plates, utensils, and cups during the project time. It will make your life a lot easier!

5. Grilling

If the weather is nice, you can use your grill to cook almost anything that your oven can! If you need to cook some meat, roast vegetables, or bake pizza, your grill will become your best friend during the remodeling process.
